Over the past few decades, it has been extensively planted in the entire Istria region, where the climatic conditions are similar to those in Tuscany. Leccino is moderately resistant to low temperatures, and it consistently produces good yields while being resistant to diseases and pests. It is an early variety, best harvested at the beginning of fruit color change. 

Leccino oil is pleasant, aromatic, slightly sweet, with a taste reminiscent of green almonds, wild chicory, and artichokes. Due to its irresistible fruity freshness and lasting aroma, it pairs excellently with seafood specialties, fruit desserts, and fish dishes such as prawns, fish carpaccio, and shellfish. It enhances the flavors of raw fish, shrimp, and prawns. 

Moreover, it pairs well with young cheeses, sheep’s milk ricotta, and cooked vegetables. It is recommended as an accompaniment for vanilla ice cream, panna cotta, and cheesecake.
